Tuke Morgan first laid hands on the Saxophone in March 2009 while in her First Year of A Levels at Woldingham School, Surrey. She wanted to learn the Guitar and strum & sing like Hannah Montana & Jonas Brothers, however her Dad thought it will be better for her to learn the Saxophone.
Since he was the one paying the fees, they reached a compromise; she would have 2 trial lessons in each instrument and then arrive at a decision. She thought the Guitar was cool but fell in love with the Saxophone at first Blow.
Tuke got her first Saxophone in the Summer of 2009, it was a Surprise from her parents. She joined the School Jazz Band once the year started in September. With this band she played Jazz Classics like The Look of Love, Heard it from the Grapevine & Sir Duke. She formed a Mini Band with a Singer from England and Drummer from Hong Kong, their hit tune was a cover of the Flinstones Theme Song.
She moved to Nottingham in September 2010 to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham. She played with her Church Band, The Nottingham Saxophone Ensemble and at events organized by Societies at the University.
She took part in a Beauty Paegant in March 2011, and performed solo for the first time during the talent section of the event. Her music got the crowd cheering and that experience greatly increased her confidence as a Saxophonist.
She learnt to play by ear with the church band while her sight reading & improvisation skills were developed with the Nottingham Saxophone Ensemble. She attended Saxophone workshops around the UK, to network and learn from other Woodwind Lovers. She got invited to play at churches in cities like Leicester & Loughborough.
Tuke moved back to Nigeria in the Summer of 2013 and joined the NYSC Brigade Band as the only Female Saxophonist. Slowly but surely she started getting invited to play at weddings, proposals, dinners, Birthday Parties, Corporate Events, restaurants & Churches.
Tuke isn’t just a Saxophonist but a full on Creative Being who expresses herself via her Award Nominated blog, www.tukesquest.com and her youtube channel. She has acted in Stage Plays in Nigeria and the UK and is an award winning Food Photographer.
The Sax is her voice and her First single “Trust” which was released in March 2015 showed the world that Tuke isn’t just a girl who plays the Saxophone in her bedroom but she is a Professional Saxophonist.
